Lights are flashing. Music is blaring.

And people are waving their arms, like they are not caring


Creatures of all sorts are dancing to the beat

They tap their boots, hoverboards, and feet.


These Brawlers, humans, robots, Hocotatians and all

Dance together tonight, for it is the Brawl Ball


The Ball, when the Smashers come to dance the night away

They have fun all night, only to do battle the next day


Mario tapped his boots, Peach twirled with flair

Zelda and Link waltzed with a majestic air


Snake and Mei Ling tangoed well

Sonic hid from Amy, who thought he was swell


And for those who didn't dance, there was still fun to be found

Wario and Kirby ate food 'till their bellies grew round


Yes, all the Smashers where having a blast

Creating memories that they knew would last


Except for one, who stood away from the fun

Someone who just wanted it all to be done


She wore a light-blue gown, a pretty thing to see

Her golden hair hung down, rippling like gentle waves in the sea


This beautiful woman, who was as hot as one could be

Had a soul made of stone, and a heart that was icy


It was Samus Aran, the Hunter known far and wide

Who was wishing that under a rock she could hide


She hated this dance, all its music and cheer

She believed this in her heart, hardened by her career


The Hunter told herself it was pointless, it would get her nowhere

That she should be blasting Metroids, on a planet somewhere


But, deep in her heart, there was another reason for this cynical stance

She was jealous of those who had dates, out there in the dance


She had been asked many times herself, but to yes she told nobody

For Samus knew, those boorish men wanted her only for her body


She looked past the crowds, her face curled in distaste

When her obligation was met, she began to leave posthaste


Through the dance floor Samus went, the waltzers she whizzed by

She covered her face, trying to hide the tear in her eye


She was about to leave the hated party of cheer

But then she was stopped, by an odd sound that was near


Beep-Was the sound, electronic and top-notch

It came from none other than Mr. Game and Watch


The monochrome man was dressed in a black tuxedo and top hat

And he bore a cartoonish bow-tie, black like a cave bat


He looked so silly and cute in his monochrome style

It even made the cold-hearted Hunter smile


Samus had always been fond of that fellow, his manners were swell

He was funny too, fighting with turtles, bacon and his bell


Game jumped up, frame-by-frame, with glee

Making him quite the sight to see


Samus laughed,  it was impossible to not

What a charming little man, she thought


Then, Mr. Game and Watch took a more serious stance

He extended his hand, and nervously asked if she would dance


Samus was stunned, and felt her heart skip a beat

A warm emotion came over her, and she felt light on her feet


Without hesitation, she decided to do what was best

She gripped his 2D hand, and said “Yes”


Watch jumped up and down, expressing his electronic joy

And he beeped his laughter, like an excited little boy


They walked onto the dance floor, hand-in-hand

And facing each other, they began to waltz with the band


Samus, fluid and light, her Chozo training enhancing

Watch, moving in frames for his odd style of dancing


Left, right, backwards and for

They waltzed closely, then closer some more


They spun, and twirled, and round and round

Yin and yang,  two pure souls where to be found


And as the music played, the two felt utter bliss

They felt a belonging, a companionship that no mortal should miss


And when the song ended, they took their bow

And where surprised that to hear a cheer from the crowd


“I loved it!” Peach shouted. “You set my heart a'flutter!”

Wario farted, and asked for some peanut butter


Then Master Hand came, and handed them a trophy of gold

“The award for the cutest couple, it must be told!”


As the Smashers cheered, Samus felt her heart warm fast

And felt for the first time, that she truly belonged, at last


And in an unexpected move, she clutched the flat man in an embrace

He returned the favor, and gave her a peck upon the cheek on her face


Samus felt truly happy, and knew for Watch she was starting to fall

And deaf to the cheering crowd, she thought “I guess this wasn't so bad after all.”
